You must be at least 15 years old and a certified open-water diver. We will be doing guided tours of the caverns around Quintana Roo in Mexico.

There will be a limited number of slots for this trip, so I'm making a list of interested persons - if you want in, reply to this email and I'll contact you first, before I make the trip available to everyone else.

The Trip - January 2025
I'm still finalizing the details, but as always, you all get first right of refusal on all our cool stuff. This will be a trip to remember, you'll get to dive into the most incredible spot in the world and see some amazing cenotes. We will stay in Puerto Aventuras a safe, gated community that I've been to many times (and a place that I'll willingly walk around in at night!).

Our guides will be cave instructors I know and have worked with - people I trust with my life.

There will be options for 2 or 3 dives a day, for 7ish days, with lunch included. There will be a trip to a local attraction (still being worked out) on the final day of the trip, but I guarantee it will be awesome.

We will be staying in a pretty darn nice place and there will be a total of 6 rooms... more to come on that front as well! In the meantime, visualize diving here:

For this trip, divers need to be 15 or older and at least open water certified with a dive in the previous 3 months. If you weren't certified open water with us, you need to have a pool session (free) where we conduct a buoyancy assessment. Your buoyancy and trim will need to be excellent before we leave.

But wait! That's not all!
How about cavern and cave training? You don't have to be any more than open water to go on the trip, but some of you want to go farther than guided dives in the light zone of the centoes.
|
As most of you know, I don't believe instructors teaching in places like New Mexico should teach cave diving. Cave diving requires an instructor who knows caves like the back of his or her hand. It is something that instructors need to do constantly to be at the top of their game. That's why I went to Mexico to take my cave training. The instructors there are some of the best in the world, and I picked the best of the Mexican schools to train with - Under the Jungle.

But, not everyone has a month to jet off to Mexico to spend learning to cave dive, so I am really excited to announce this to you:

I've entered into an agreement with Under the Jungle
I'm going to do preparatory training for divers who are interested in moving into cavern and cave diving. That means I will have access to all of UTJ's fantastic instructor and student materials, and you'll be able to train on the basics at home, and only take a trip when you're ready to move to the overhead environment!

That will save you time, and travel expenses and you'll get the same quality prep work without having to travel out of the country until your skills are spot-on.

What will the overhead prep courses consist of?
Your overhead preparation will consist of taking Technical Sidemount or Intro to Tech Diving with me, as well as a technical course tentatively called "Overhead Essentials" that would consist of a lot of the skills that are contained in the cavern course. Line work, zero visibility drills, etc. These would be skills that can be conducted in open water which will accelerate the speed at which you'll be able to progress through cavern and cave training. I had so much fun doing these skills in my Cavern course, and I'm really looking forward to introducing some of you to those skills here at home.

The best part of all of this is we can work at your pace, on weekends or weekdays over the time frame that works best for you. No vacation or air travel is required until you're ready for the good stuff!

Once you're ready, we can decide if we want to make a trip together, or you can travel on your own, knowing that you aren't going to spend a bunch of time remediating or learning skills that you could have learned at home.
|
We can also add Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures into the training at your discretion, so you'll have the opportunity to experience some real-world technical diving before your trip!
