Deep 6 Eddy Fins

The Deep 6 Eddy Fins (also searched as Deep6 Eddy fins or Deep Six Eddy fins) are ported-blade scuba fins with spring straps – stiff, powerful, close to neutral in the water and light enough for travel. Sold and fitted by Viking Dives, Albuquerque, NM.

Orange may be the new black, but we like options. So, now you can have it all! The Eddy incorporates all the best characteristics of various scuba diving fins into one. It starts with a blade design including ports to allow for better propulsion and a foot pocket that is actually designed to fit a human foot while wearing a wetsuit or drysuit boots. The features a very comfortable spring strap.

The Deep 6 Eddy Fins are molded to give the diver the right stiffness for maximum power while being lightweight enough for travel. They are also extremely comfortable.

A note on the material: The S/M comes with a bit more flex which makes the fins a bit softer.

Recommended Sizing
Sizing depends on the type of boot you’re wearing, not your shoe size. You will get the wrong size if you buy the “SAME SIZE” as you wore in “XX Brand” without reading this part.

Customers have found wetsuit boots with a flexible sole in sizes 5-8 fit best in an S/M, 9-11 LG, 11-13 XL, and above size 13 the XXL. When wearing wet-suit boots with a thick “sneaker” type sole or a dry suit boot you should go to the next larger size. If in doubt get the next larger size as the spring straps are adjustable for a more custom fit.

Remember that a normal shoe is sized for the outside dimensions of your foot, which stays pretty consistent. Fins, however, have to be sized to fit the outside of whatever foot protection you choose and the size of the boot varies depending on the brand.

They actually dedicate part of their Open Water course to discussing what equipment is not worth your money! Instead, they make honest recommendations based on years of experience and tailor them to your diving goals. Since I needed a cold-water focus for Iceland, they made sure I had the right information without unnecessary upselling.

It’s been 6 years since I dove last and overall and I only have about 10 dives under my belt so I was starting to get anxious for an upcoming dive trip. I am SO glad I did my refresher with Bill, it was a 1 on 1 session in the pool and I left feeling so much more comfortable in the water! I learned new skills and feel so much more prepared!
