Nothing ruins a dive trip like a gear problem. The SDI Equipment Specialist Course gives you an in-depth look at how your dive equipment works and how to handle basic repairs and care yourself, so you don’t lose dives to small issues.

Who this course is for:

Divers who want to understand their gear, choose better equipment, and make simple field repairs.

• Minimum age 18, or 10 with parental consent

What you can expect to learn:

The SDI Equipment Specialist Course takes an in-depth look at all of the following:

• Exposure suits: wetsuits and dry suits, materials, repairs, and care
• BCDs, regulators, and alternate air sources: how they work and how to maintain them
• Cylinders and weight systems: care, transport, and selection
• Dive computers and accessories: features, care, and selection
• How to choose the right equipment for your diving

What’s in it for you?

Graduates may perform basic repairs and care on their own equipment. Major repairs still require a qualified technician. Counts toward the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program.
