SDI Shore and Beach Diver

Some of the best diving starts right from the shore. The SDI Shore and Beach Diver Course teaches you how to choose sites, read conditions, and get in and out safely through surf and from the beach.

Who this course is for:

Certified divers who want to dive from shore with confidence, at home or on vacation.

Course prerequisites

• Minimum age 18, or 10 with parental consent
• SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent

What you can expect to learn:

The SDI Shore and Beach Diver Course takes an in-depth look at all of the following:

• Site selection and dive planning with maps
• Assessing currents and surf conditions
• Shore and surf zone entry procedures
• Descents, ascents, and float control
• Compass navigation
• Beach exits and emergency procedures

What’s in it for you?

Graduates may plan and conduct shore dives without direct instructor supervision, in conditions similar to their training. Junior divers must dive with an adult. Counts toward the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program.

SDI Shore and Beach Diver minimum certification requirements:

• Complete all open water requirements safely
• Demonstrate mature judgment in dive planning and execution
