SDI Wreck Limited Penetration Diver

Take your wreck diving inside. The SDI Wreck Limited Penetration Course teaches you how to safely enter and explore wrecks while staying within the light zone of the entrance.

Who this course is for:

Certified divers who want to go beyond swimming around wrecks and safely explore their interiors.

Course prerequisites

• Minimum age 18, or 15 with parental consent
• SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent
• SDI Deep Diver or equivalent experience for dives deeper than 18 metres / 60 feet

What you can expect to learn:

The SDI Wreck Limited Penetration Diver Course takes an in-depth look at all of the following:

• Wreck research and dive planning
• Lights, cutting devices, lines, and reels
• Using a line for navigation and safety
• Buoyancy and finning to avoid silting
• Wreck mapping and navigation
• Wreck-specific emergency procedures

What’s in it for you?

Graduates may plan and conduct limited penetration wreck dives, staying within the ambient light of the entry point, in conditions similar to their training. Counts toward the SDI Advanced Diver Development Program.

SDI Wreck Limited Penetration Diver minimum certification requirements:

• Complete three open water dives
• Remain within the ambient light zone of the entry point on all penetration dives
• Maximum depth 18 metres / 60 feet without Deep Diver certification
• Demonstrate mature judgment in dive planning and execution
